Special Education and A New School Year

Aug 26, 2016

The start of a new school year brings with it anticipation and excitement for students, but for some parents those same emotions might be mixed with those of apprehension and uncertainty. Some parents might feel a trepidation as they help ease their children into a routine with a new classroom or event with a new district.

I have spoken by phone with several parents over the last few weeks who are planning to move their families to Iowa. They have children with disabilities and several of the parents expressed that they heard good things about Grant Wood AEA and that is helping them focus their search for a home to one of our districts.

As I explained the services that Iowa's Area Education Agencies provides, each parent has expressed excitement that their child will have access to our services and expertise. While I have no confirmation that any of these families have actually made the move to Iowa, it is nice to know that our quality reputation extends beyond the borders of our great state.

At Grant Wood AEA, we hope your new year is off to a successful start.Let us know how we can continue helping your students succeed.
