Professional Material
In "Culturally Responsive Teaching for Multilingual Learners: Tools for Equity", authors Sydney Snyder and Diane Staehr Fenner propose that by using culturally responsive teaching as a framework for changing educational outcomes for multilingual learners, and presenting steps needed to develop a climate in which all students' backgrounds, experiences, and cultures are honored, educators can build a stronger and more diverse school community. Included in this book are: practical and printable research-based tools; case studies and reflection exercises to help identify implicit bias and mitigate deficit-based thinking; authentic classroom video clips showing what culturally responsive teaching looks like; and hand-drawn sketch note graphics that spotlight key concepts. |
