This year the Iowa Speech-Language Hearing Foundation awarded Grant Wood AEA SLPs $500 to purchase outdoor universal
core vocabulary boards via the Bingham Innovation Award. This award allowed the purchase of 27 boards which were then added to school district playgrounds.
These boards include images of 36 highly useful words that can be used alone or in combination in communication instruction.
Grant Wood AEA SLPs Whitney Kramer, Meghan Wright, Tom Wright and Cassie Vasquez applied for the funding and several others coordinated with their schools to install and use these Core Boards.
