College for Kids
Summer Enrichment Program | June 17-27 and July 8-18, 2024
Founded in 1987, the College for Kids Summer Enrichment Program is offered to nominated high-ability middle school students who enjoy being academically and/or creatively challenged and who wish to expand on their advanced talents and abilities by taking faster-paced, topic-specific courses on a college campus.
Open Minds, Open Doors

Open Minds, Open Doors is a half-day conference intended to encourage students to pursue career fields with foundations in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Grant Wood AEA is pleased to collaborate with the Association of University Women (AAUW) and Coe College to provide the annual Open Minds, Open Doors conference.
Presenters for this event represent a variety of careers and businesses in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor.
Young Writers Conference

Grant Wood AEA to offers a one day Young Writers’ Conference for 4th and 5th grade students in the spring. Accompanied by a teacher from their school, students will attend an author session, two workshop sessions, and a sharing session where students will share samples of their own writing.
Job Readiness Fair
Future Event To Be Determined
The Job Readiness Fair is a demonstration-based learning event that will apply career education lessons from the classroom. During the event students will:
1. Practice completing a job application
2. Participate in a face-to-face mock interview
3. Participate in a web-based employment search activity
4. Interact with and receive feedback from area employers
5. Attend informational sessions regarding employment in the 21st century
